When linking to an online article from Canvas, it is essential that you use the permanent URL, which is different from the URL that displays in your browser’s address bar.
Different databases use different names for the permanent URL and position it in different places. Here are the names and locations of the permanent URL in our most popular databases:
EBSCO databases (eg. SearchNorth & Academic Search Premier)
The permanent URL is generated by clicking the “permalink” button located on the right-hand sidebar on the record:
Academic OneFile (this applies to nearly all Gale databases)
Select “Get Link” from the options located to the right of the search box. Copy and paste the URL.
The permanent URL can be found on top, left side of the page just below the DOI field. It will generally be located under the cover image of the book or journal.
You can access the permanent URL for an article by navigating to the “Abstract/Details” tab on the record and navigating to “Document URL” near the bottom of the record.
