iPads, Kindles, and Laptops

 
The Samuel Read Hall Library is please to offer iPads, Kindles, and laptops to the Northern Vermont University academic community. Information for borrowing these items can be found below.
 

  • iPads
    • Samuel Read Hall Library lends iPad from the library for up to three days. Each comes with a suite of apps for study, discovery, entertainment and play.
    • The apps include tools for studying, writing, researching, and presenting. Some have subject-specific tools or information. Some are just for fun.
    • The full terms and conditions for borrowing a library iPad are listed on the Circulation Policies page. A loan agreement must be read and signed when borrowing a library iPad.
  • Kindles
    • NVU-Lyndon students, faculty and staff can borrow a Kindle Touch from the library for up to 14 days. Each comes with pre-loaded titles.
    • The library’s Kindle books are normally “Casual” titles: fiction or general-interest, non-academic non-fiction.
    • The full terms and conditions for borrowing a library Kindle are listed on the Circulation Policies page. A loan agreement must be read and signed when borrowing a library Kindle.
  • Laptops
    • Laptops are loaned to current NVU-Lyndon faculty, students and staff who can present a valid library card and who have a library account in good standing. Laptops are not available to guest borrowers, alumni or members of other VSC colleges.
    • Laptops are reserved for current students, faculty, and staff working on class projects, delivering presentations, or any other relevant class or work related project.

Audio, Video, and Games

 
Northern Vermont University Libraries offer a wide variety of audio and visual resources to the Northern Vermont University academic community. Guest borrowers are also welcome to borrow these items. Information for the collections can be found below.
 

  • Audio
    • Audio materials collections include music and spoken word CDs, including audiobooks and lecture series and vinyl records. You can browse the collections in person or discover them through SearchNorth.
    • The Library also recommends Librivox for open-access online audiobooks and ebooks.
  • Video
    • NVU Libraries has an extensive collection of DVDs, including instructional materials, documentaries and feature-length films. You can browse the collections in person or discover them through SearchNorth.
    • Films On Demand: NVU Libraries also provides access to the Films On Demand database, which contains more than 15,500 full-length videos and 241,000 video clips, focused on academic and documentary films.
  • Video Games
    • Samuel Read Hall Library has a small number of games available for checking out with and playing on the Library’s PS3 console.
